Amazon and Google planning wireless headphones to challenge AirPods
The true wireless headphones have witnessed an immense growth in the past few years, with industry majors like Apple and Jabra opting to bring products like the AirPods and Elite Active 65t, respectively. Now, it seems that fellow tech giants Amazon and Google wants a piece of the true wireless audio segment.
AirPods are wireless Bluetooth earbuds released by Apple in December 2016.
In addition to playing music and relaying phone calls, AirPods have support for Apple’s digital assistant, Siri, and a physical user interface which can detect taps and in-ear placement. AirPods include the proprietary Apple W1 SoC, whose additional connectivity functions require devices running iOS 10, macOS Sierra, watchOS 3, or later.
